The University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, Food and Environment recently conducted a community assessment for Barbourville and Knox County, Kentucky. The assessment was part of the Community and Economic Initiative of Kentucky.
The assessment report was presented to the Barbourville Tourism Commission, along with several community leaders, at a public meeting held Tuesday night, February 27, 2018 in Barbourville.
Issues addressed in the report included the following topics: educational, residential, healthcare, arts and culture, civic engagement, downtown, public infrastructure, recreation and tourism, small businesses and restaurants and lodging.
The report concluded with lasting impressions, including both the challenges and the opportunities.
