Way back in the 1880s, John A. Black operated a general merchandise store in Barbourville, Kentucky.
Attached is a one-page record of charges at the store made around 1880 by a J.... W. Davis. The document was donated by Trent Hall in memory of his son, Jason Hall, 1978-2011.
The total charges made by Davis totalled $25.31, which apparently were paid off from 1882 to 1884.
Items purchased include coats, coffee, saddle bags, shoes, and several other items difficult to read in the old-style cursive handwriting.
