On August 25, 2016, Jayne Poynter of Corbin donated her extensive collection of genealogy books, documents and other materials to the Knox Historical Museum.

"This is a significant collection which Ms. Poynter has accumulated over a lifetime," said museum genealogist Wayne Adams. "Anyone doing research at our genealogy center will find the materials very useful."

The Jayne Poynter Collection ranges from books and records about the history and families in Knox and the surrounding counties to such interesting topics as the pirates of Colonial North Carolina, Tennessee's Indian peoples, a Letcher County Pictorial from 1842-1930, early settlers on the Poor Fork of the Cumberland River, German-American names, and much more.

Items in the Poynter Collection are being distributed to the pertinent research categories within the genealogy center itself.
