Henry Matt Mills of Cannon, Ky., was interviewed at his home on August 15, 1989 by William Sherman Oxendine and Jakalyn Jackson.

In the interview, Mr. Mills touches on many topics, including the Bailey-White Feud, the Charles Childers killing, legal whiskey making, "poor houses," folk medicine and more.

Henry Mills was born on July 6, 1897 on Mills Creek, which is located on Road Fork of Stinking Creek. In a newspaper article printed in 1990, he recalled  walking 1 1/4 miles to school and hunting, fishing and trapping year-round. When he graduated from grade school, he attended B.B. I. and later served in the U.S. military during WWII. See attachment later in this article.

Mr. Mills died on Oct. 27, 1991 and is buried in the Jones-Hurst Cemetery of Cannon.
