A longtime supporter of the Daniel Boone Festival, physician Harold L. Bushey, 88, died Jan. 23, 2016 at his home on Edgewood Drive, located just outside Barbourville, Ky.

He served the Boone Festival committee for many years, including being chairman in 1957 and joint chairman in 1970 with David Bell. Favorite tasks included his arranging Boone Festival coinage and coordinating the annual long rifle shootout. Dr. Bushey also was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Barbourville and a former member of the Lions Club and Garden Club.

Dr. Bushey also was a Kentucky delegate to the American Medical Association for several years and enjoyed traveling to exotic places around the world.  During World War II he served in the United States Navy.

A memorial service was scheduled to be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, January 30 at 6 p.m.

Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday after 4 p.m. until the time of service.
