Visitors to Barbourville, Kentucky often take note of a memorial located outside the Knox County Courthouse. The memorial honors Knox County, Kentucky veterans who died in three 20th century wars: World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.

The memorial was originally erected by the Knox County Jaycees in 1984. It was "dedicated in honor of the men and women who served our country in time of war and conflict." Later, a plaque was added which reads as follows: "In Honor of Veterans Killed in Action." This plaque credits the Chamber of Commerce and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
