Curtis Penix hiked an estimated 200 miles from the Long Island of the Holston River or today's Kingsport, Tennessee to Fort Boonesborough, Kentucky on the 240th anniversary of Daniel Boone's marking the trace, in honor of his fifth great-grandfather, Joshua Penix.  This very interesting youtube clip is narrated by Curtis Penix himself, who reflects on the trials endured and the joys he experienced while making the trek.

Givan Fox picks up the hike at the Joseph Martin Station in Lee County Virginia, just before Cumberland Gap, which is the gateway to western expansion.  Givan is the son of Dr. John Fox, president of Friends of Boone Trace (boonetrace1775.com). Dr. Fox has spent numerous years searching out the original trace.
