In 2012, the Corbin Genealogical Society ceased operations and donated the bulk of its collection to the Knox Historical Museum.

The main items donated consisted of a substantial number of individual family histories in the Knox, Whitley and Laurel County area.

The society also donated several books covering this area, the region and state, as well as microfilm and other valuable resources.
